Debut at the Lake: The Budding Stage brings together some of the region's most exciting emerging artists for a full day of live music in the beautiful surroundings of Shibden Park. Find your spot by the stage, grab something to eat and drink, and settle in for a day of great music, with more than 10 artists performing live.

Lady Leshurr
Lady Leshurr is an incredibly talented British rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. After growing up in a music loving family and enjoying poetry and writing, her passion for music started at a young age. Lady Leshurr enjoyed a variety of music genres, particularly reggae, and artists such as Bob Marley and Sister Nancy were of great influence on her music.
A significant turn in Lady Leshurr’s career came when she released her Queen’s Speech series of freestyles. Gaining widespread in 2015, her fifth freestyle in this series was lauded as ‘brilliant’ and ‘2015’s Crowning Freestyle’ by Spin. Aside from her musical ventures, Lady Leshurr has had experience as an actress, playing a lead role in the film 1 Day. She then went on to release her mixtape, Friggin L, and started her own clothing line named after it.
With a career marked with many notable achievements, Lady Leshurr won the MOBO award for Best Rap/ Grime Act in 2019. This was the first of many awards and accolades, she also won Best Solo Female at the Birmingham Music Awards. In 2020, Lady Leshurr was honoured with the British Empire Medal for her contributions to music and charity. This established her as a true professional throughout the music industry and a credible individual in using her platform for good. Her influence continued though her pursuit of being the first black British woman to lead a campaign for the beauty brand Olay.
As a true icon, Lady Leshurr is known globally for the influence she has had on people everywhere. Her story is not just one of musical talent, but of perseverance, innovation, and commitment.
A Day on Venus

They're on a mission to redefine the UK brass music scene, with an infectious new homegrown sound spun out of the musical melting-pot of London dancefloors.
Led by singer Tiffany Parker’s electrifying storytelling, her songs form the core of the band's identity – real stories about love, late-night truths, and solidarity in holding up others. This isn’t just music you hear; it’s music that captures your heart as much as your dancing feet.
A Day On Venus have been building a dedicated underground following since 2023, with shows across Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, the National Theatre, 93 Feet East, Sofar Sounds and more. Following their debut EP in 2024, Day Into Night, they've spent 2025 in the studio refining their sound and crafting meaningful new tracks drawn from Tiffany’s lived experiences. Working with producer Ali Jamieson (Bonobo, Bombay Bicycle Club, Heavy Disco Soundsystem, The Young Punx), their 2025 EP Call Me, Sister, recorded at Echo Ray Studios, captures the vibrancy of the unique stylistic blend that defines their live shows.
The Incident
The Incident are a brother-sister duo from Halifax, UK, blending theatrical flair with piano-driven pop rock. Tom ‘Cab’ Davies (20) and Emma ‘Eise’ Davies (16) broke out in 2024 with their debut single All The Kiddies Doin’ Drugs, mastered at Abbey Road and named one of the studio’s top tracks of the week.
Known for their electrifying live shows, they quickly sold out headline gigs and performed at VIP events for Noel Gallagher, The Pixies and Richard Ashcroft. The duo returned with Red Flag Ruby, a raw, emotionally charged follow-up single showcasing soaring instrumentation and haunting sibling harmonies. They were invited to support The K’s, sold out a headline show at The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge and were invited onto BBC Radio Leeds for an interview & for their latest singles first official air play, firmly establishing The Incident as one of the most compelling emerging young duos on the scene.

Herbie May
Herbie May is a musician, songwriter and record label founder from the Calder Valley. Best known as guitarist and co-songwriter with acclaimed indie band The Lounge Society, Herbie has also forged a distinctive solo career and launched Red Licorice Records, an independent label dedicated to championing original music and emerging artists.
His thoughtful songwriting, DIY ethos and commitment to the local music scene continue to make him one of West Yorkshire's most exciting creative voices.

19-year-old multi-instrumentalist Joe Robinson is a regular on Calderdale's live music circuit, performing as doogle. Originally part of Bradford-based punk band Alarm77, he has since become a folky indie-pop solo artist, with his first venue gig in Halifax's The Grayston Unity, and now rising through the West Yorkshire scene with his captivating poetic lyricism paired with upbeat instrumentals and cracking dance moves.
Adelaide Taylor
Adelaide is a dynamic performer whose expansive repertoire spans all eras, blending timeless classics with contemporary hits, bringing a unique flair to every song. Her love of both the piano and guitar alike allows her to deliver captivating performances that resonate with just about anyone.
She’ll be accompanied by the incredible Anthony Croft on the violin- ‘it’s a proper match made in heaven!’ Amidst the covers, Ads sings her own heartfelt originals, offering a glimpse into her soul - no two performances are the same!
Dan Loops
Yorkshire-based acoustic rap artist Dan Loops is known for blending witty lyricism with intricate guitar work and live loops. Dan has carved out a distinctive place in the UK’s alt-hip-hop scene.
His debut album, An Album, launched to a sold-out crowd in 2016 and is now available on all major streaming platforms. Before that, Dan had already made waves supporting Kae Tempest at the Lyric Festival in Sheffield (2012) and performing at the O2 Arena in 2011. Between 2011 and 2014, he gigged relentlessly, honing his live craft on stages big and small across the country.
A festival regular, Dan has played events including Manchester Pride, Y Not and Tramlines. During lockdown, he wrote, recorded, and independently released his follow-up project, Self Titled (2022). With fresh material and a renewed drive, Dan Loops is back on the road, gigging up and down the UK.

Dan's Girlfriend
Hailing from Calderdale, Dan’s Girlfriend are a four-piece rock outfit channelling the spirit of 80s glam-goth with an arty edge and a signature sax-led swagger. Their sound fuses dark, atmospheric tones with high-energy rock, creating a distinctive style that feels both nostalgic and strikingly modern.
Sons of Latona
Based out of Halifax, West Yorkshire, Sons of Latona are a 4-piece alternative rock band, all formed by schoolmates. Taking inspiration from all genres, metal to indie, they began writing music in Sixth Form. Their latest single, 'Both Sides' is an evolution of an old idea, beginning with intimate chords and building into a powerful and emotional chorus. With new music in the works, there is more to come soon.

Daphne Jay
Daphne Jay is a unique singer-songwriter and enjoys creating music which signify a range of emotions and a variety of topics. She loves playing the piano and the guitar, and singing is a huge part of her life. Daphne’s artistic output is at a rate of 3-4 songs a month, and she is always keen to express herself through her music. At the age of 13, she frequently performs at gigs and venues. Music is a key part of her life.
